The Secrets of a Royal Portrait (ENG)
The Secrets of a Royal Portrait – English edition
In September 2017 the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia organised the conference and exhibition Τα μυστικά ενός βασιλικού πορτρέτου / The Secrets of a Royal Portrait. This publication investigates the story behind the portrait Caterina Cornaro as a Widow, painted in the second half of the 16th century, which is considered to be one of the few surviving Renaissance paintings of Caterina Cornaro in the world. The book presents mainly essays from the conference contributors, enriched and extended, accompanied by related exhibition material.
The portrait belongs to the private collection of Michael Zeipekkis and is on a long-term loan to the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia, displayed in the permanent exhibition hall dedicated to Caterina Cornaro.
