Τhree Photographic Trails – Nicosia: People and Places, Part 1: 1878-1960 (GR-ENG)

Photographic album dedicated to the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia’s temporary exhibition of the same name. It is the first part of a trilogy which brings together a vast array of historical photographs from the Museum’s ‘To Mati’ Photographic Archive, revealing unique aspects of the capital through the passage of time.

The publication includes postcards and photographic material by the first photographers from 1878 to 1950. The photographs were taken either by prominent photographers who visited the island from the late 19th century onwards or by professional Cypriot photographers who captured everything that made an impression on them. John P. Foscolo, the Mangoian Brothers, Felix Yiaxis, Theodoulos N. Toufexis and Charles Glaszner are just a few of these pioneering photographers.

The essay included was written by the Deputy Director of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia Maria Patsalosavvi.
